Pin-Up Peached Spring/Summer 2010

By Katrina Barrion, Creative Director for GIELLA custom blend cosmetics.
Spring runways had several important looks. Some of which were Safari, Nautical and anything RED. However it is undeniable that the trend which made the most appearances on the runway is Lingerie. This look is about owning your sexuality. It oozes confidence and has a very Parisian feel to it. Be a sophisticated flirt!
The modern twist to this look is that the lingerie is to be worn as the top layer. If you thought the creamy cashmere from last season felt nice, it doesn't compare to the silk satin and delicate lace in spring. This look can be tricky to pull off. Not everyone is comfortable wearing a brazier over a silk blouse. So for a more conservative way to layer would be a lace cami under an organza blouse with a loose flowing pajama like pant.
Lingerie and boostiers have become Dolce and Gabbana's signature look. Some of the designers who focused on this look for this season are Valentino, Marc Jacobs, Victor & Rolf, Christian Dior and Alexander Wang.
As for shoes flats are the way to go. All the big names in shoes have put beautiful delicate details on the classic ballet flat. In accessories Lucite is the new gold. See-thru accessories in bracelets, necklaces and even clutch purses are a new must have. This compliments the lingerie and doesn't overpower it.
FACE: Full coverage foundation all over the face with a dusting of translucent powder.
Contour your cheeks with a face powder that is a few shades darker than your skin (4-6 Tan or 6-8 Blue). Dab on some salmon colored blush (Muse) in the apples and blend downward into the contour. Highlight cheekbones with a powder shimmer (Seductive).
EYES: line upper and lower rim with charcoal liner (Blindfold). Then take a stiff brush (#10) and smudge lines. Lightly sweep a warm brown (Bedroom eyes) on the lids and into the crease. Use a short bristle brush to smoke out the outer quarter of the lid with Truffle eye shadow. Truffle can be dragged down to the lower lash line for a more dramatic look. Trace the under the brow with a lighter shadow like Vanilla Cream.
LIPS: Peach lips are the hottest trend in makeup for spring 2010. Although peach and coral have been known as difficult colors to wear with a little lip liner and confidence you too can be current and trendy!
Prime lips with lip boostier then line them lightly with a nude lip liner (Center fold). Fill in lips with a peach lipstick (Caramelon). Finish off with a matching gloss (Juicy Melon).
NAILS: L ‘Orange, a vibrant orange with a touch of red.
